Job Description

Looking for motivated senior leaders to help grow a renewable energy business platform. This platform will focus specifically on wind and solar power generation in the USA.

The Commercial Origination Director will be applying their understanding to prepare and execute a strategic commercial plan in collaboration with the international management teams. Working closely with the Business Development team on the appropriate valuation of project acquisition opportunities and source, originate and secure power off-take structures for renewable projects as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop robust market perspectives and forecasts in a strategic commercial plan
  • Originate and close PPA, REC and Hedge Agreement negations
  • Prepare bids
  • Evaluate congestion analyses with transmission experts
  • Design power-scheduling team structures for active projects
  • Provide revenue assumptions
  • Provide critical analyses of regulatory and policy frameworks
  • Identify project risks, defining and implementing appropriate mitigation actions
  • Ensure project-specific financial assessments capture execution assumptions for the business case
  • Integrate company systems and governance requirements into the management process
  • Provide critical analyses of regulatory and policy frameworks that can influence project economics

Key Requirements:

  • University degree in relevant disciplines requiring strong analytical skills (i.e. mathematics, business administration, economics, MBA, engineering
  • Strong, proven track record of successful PPA, hedge, REC sales and general power off-take agreements for wind and solar projects in various USA markets
  • Understanding of the US power markets, fundamentals, grid dynamics and policy trends
  • Ability to adjudicate between different functional priorities
  • Strong management and teamwork ability
  • Strong strategic thinker, able to develop clear and easy to communicate strategic concepts for energy and certificate marketing from complex market and regulatory environments
  • Flexibility to travel as required
