Job Description

Our client, a European energy trading house for commodities, is looking for a Customer Relationship Manager to contribute to the overall profitability and performance of the business by demonstrating a deep understanding of standard and bespoke energy transaction risk and opportunities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage the existing customer base and acquire new customer relations in the German target markets as well as the wider European markets where appropriate
  • Build strong relationships with customers and creating trust at organisational levels beyond the energy purchase, finance and utility departments, including establishing key contacts to executives
  • Market products and services offered by other departments or external specialist companies including new digital online platforms and optimisation services
  • Recognise customer needs as well as new trends in the market
  • Effectively manage product development in collaboration with other departments
  • Conduct customer site visits and attend the relevant industry events and conferences on a regular basis


Key Requirements:


  • A finance, economics, business or technical University Degree
  • 5 + years’ experience in energy commodities, preferably in the fields of sales, trading, consulting or origination within the European energy markets with a special focus on Germany
  • Detailed and profound knowledge of commodity products such as power, gas and green energy products and the applicable regulatory frameworks in the European Energy markets with a special focus on Germany
  • Other experience, i.e. in the new digital online energy world or in the developmental of energy infrastructure projects would be an advantage; proactive, entrepreneurial, results orientated individual
  • Ability to clearly position yourself with unequivocal recommendations, weight the chances of risks carefully before taking decisions, as well as the ability to win the trust of executive level customers in challenging and changing circumstances
  • Experience in working in a fast-moving environment including skills such as working under pressure, focussing on main topics and delivering high quality on time
  • Business fluency in German and English
