Job Description

Our client, one of the world’s fastest-growing companies in the solar industry, is looking for a Technical Manager, who will be responsible for defining the basis of design of utility-scale solar power plants and supporting the Business Development team during the feasibility studies of PV projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the project development team with feasibility studies, cost models and high-level design
  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence for solar project opportunities and coordinate the works with external Technical Advisors
  • Determine and assess the need for external consultants and make the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle and feasibility studies
  • Provide technical support for the permitting throughout the development phase of projects
  • Optimised PV design including component selection, module string size, conductor, etc.
  • Work in conjunction with in-house system designers as well as Engineering/EPC partners to prepare project-specific system design plans that take into account customer site- and project consideration as well as pertinent local codes and regulations
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations
  • Create PV Plant Layouts for utility-scale solar projects
  • Develop design standard and specifications
  • Review and verify project documents for completeness, format and compliance with contract requirements
  • Support procurement by developing and maintaining equipment specifications
  • Lead continuous improvements of design standards, specifications and design process
  • Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and company policies
  • Complete other duties and projects as assigned

 

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in an Engineering Discipline
  • Minimum 10 years engineering experience in designing PV plant greater than 500 kW
  • Strong understanding of PV system design, including the proper usage of basic components and conventional installation and interconnection methods
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Wide knowledge of relevant regulations and standards
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, collaboratively and cross-culturally
  • Strong technical aptitude. A background in mechanical or electrical engineering would be of great value
